Humans, by (sin) nature, don’t like to have rules…laws. At the same time, we know that if, for instance, there were no traffic signals or stop signs, the result would be vehicular chaos and, likely, numerous deaths. Bottom line: laws are good and, when obeyed, some do actually save lives. God’s laws, found in His Word, are completely good and always right. No human can keep them all perfectly, causing us to understand that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) in need of a sinless Savior (2 Corinthians 5:21). His name is Jesus, the sinless One who died for our sins. So, God laws are actually given to lovingly and graciously point us to our need for Jesus, thus saving our lives for eternity, when we obediently trust in Him alone for His free gift of salvation (Romans 6:23).
Psalm 19:7-8
7 The Law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Romans 7:7
What shall we say then? Is the Law [of God] sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law [of God].
“God’s law is our pleasure when the God of the law is our God.” ~ C.H.Spurgeon
